Vertical Wind Turbines
If you are considering installing a wind turbine on your property, you may want to take into
account the advantages of vertical wind turbines. These efficient structures provide a great way to
harness wind energy, no matter your environment, and offer many other advantages as
well.
Advantages of vertical wind turbines:
* No tower is needed: Horizontal wind turbines must be mounted on tall towers in order to catch the
wind. Vertical wind turbines, however, can catch wind from any direction, without needing a
tower.
* Easier maintenance: Vertical wind turbines are located near the ground, and can therefore be
accessed easily for maintenance of moving parts.
* Start Creating Energy Sooner: Vertical wind turbines start producing energy at lower speeds than
horizontal wind turbines - some as low as 6 m.p.h.
* Vertical wind turbines can be built in areas where taller towers may not be allowed, such as in
cities and towns
If you are considering taking advantage of wind energy as an alternative source, a vertical wind
turbine may be the choice for you. Take the time to research wind energy, and see which options
work best for you and your area.
